In Collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, SMVDU Hosts a talk on ‘Books and People

On Saturday, the Sahitya Akademi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) jointly hosted a lecture as part of the "People and Books" series. The series aims to provide a personality that enjoys reading with a chance.

The literature that impacted Nagendra Singh Jamwal, registrar at SMVDU, was discussed. He also commented on the accessibility and impact of literature, particularly Dogri literature.

Dogri literature needs to reorient itself to the changing times, including e-books, kindle editions, social media, and marketing through marketing platforms, and e-platforms, whereas English and Hindi have been able to meet the literary needs of the readers.

After the presentation, there was a panel discussion about the Dogri books and fiction that received the Sahitya Akademi awards. Jatinder Udhampuri Padamshree, a renowned Dogri writer, presided over the session. Additionally, papers were delivered by Dr. Sushma Rani, Shivdev Singh Sushil, and Vijay Verma.

Prof. Madan Mohan Sharma's Dogri book, "Dhara te Dhura," was praised by Shivdev Singh Sushil. A panel discussion on the current status of Dogri novels concerning important Indian languages marked the conclusion of the two-day conference. Dhian Singh, a well-known Dogri author, presided over the meeting.

The development of novels in Dogri literature and their applicability to the times in which we live have been discussed by Inderjeet Kesar, Shailender Singh, and Nasib Singh Manhas. The event was organized by university scholars under the direction of Dr. Isha Malhotra, Head of the School of Languages and Literature, and Dr. Rakesh Thussu, President of BCA.
